At lower magnification, a broader field of view is provided. Therefore, locating targets and transitioning between different aiming points can be completed more comfortably. As the distance increases, magnification can be raised gradually so that smaller details become easier to observe.
Because the reticle is positioned in the first focal plane, its proportional relationship to the target is maintained throughout the magnification range. Consequently, the shooter does not have to depend on one specific magnification setting when using the reticle as a visual reference.
